Martial Arts

Master Steven Phillips, a 6th Degree Black Belt with almost 30 years of martial arts experience, will introduce his traditional martial arts training with a modern teaching method to give students a challenging and rewarding experience. Master Steven studied under Grand Master Ye Bong Choi, a ninth degree black belt and former Korean champion. This course is designed for the beginner level student and will be available only once to each individual. Registration deadline is one week prior to the start of the class.

Dates:  Thursdays; January 12 – March 2, 2017
Time:  Thursdays, 7:45-8:30pm
Eligibility:  Boys and Girls ages 6-12 (Max. of 25 per class – additional class may be added)
Cost:  $85 per student; includes a martial arts uniform

N-8 WINTERGUARD (NOVICE)

Winterguard is the performance sport of indoor colorguard which combines the use of flags, sabres, mock rifles, and dance to create a show. Winterguards compete locally against other guards at their level. Our novice group consists of mostly beginning members, and the Regional A group competes at a more intermediate level. Registration is currently underway.

N-8 WINTERGUARD (REGIONAL A)

Indoor Winterguard combines the colorguard skills of flag, mock sabre, and mock rifle drills with choreographed dance and theatrics. Winterguard teams attend local competitions where they perform their show indoors. N8 is the West Windsor Recreation Department sponsored team. No prior experience is necessary. Students learn equipment twirls and tosses and a choreographed dance routine. Costumes and equipment are provided. Registration is currently underway.

WOLVERINE WRESTLING PROGRAM

Boys in grades K-5 are invited to participate in the exciting and challenging sport of scholastic wrestling. The wrestling program will focus on teaching the fundamentals, fostering an enjoyment of the sport, and providing opportunities to compete against other area wrestling programs.

Dates:  November 28th through February 2017
Time:  Mondays and Wednesdays; 6:30 - 8:00PM
Eligibility:  Boys in grades K-5
Location:  Grover Middle School Auxiliary Gym, 10 Southfield Road, West Windsor
Cost:  $190.00
Note:  To ensure a successful experience, a parent volunteer commitment is required.

MIDDLE SCHOOL WRESTLING ACCELERATOR CLINIC

The program will focus on select moves, counters, and intuitions to accelerate the learning curve of inexperienced middle school team wrestlers and further their appreciation and enjoyment of the sport.
