Swimming Lessons

Instructional swimming lessons will be offered in two sessions at the WaterWorks Family Aquatic Center. Class size is limited. Registration for all swim lessons, diving, and swim team underway.

SWIMMING COURSE DESCRIPTIONS
Please read each course description carefully to insure your child is enrolled in the appropriate level. To register for Levels 2-4, individuals must be able to demonstrate all the skill requirements for the previous level. Class sizes are limited.

Level 1 - Students should to be comfortable in and around the water. Instruction includes supported float on front and back, supported kicking on front and back, entering and exiting of pool, submerging face, blowing bubbles, and water safety.

Level 2 - Students will begin to learn fundamental swimming skills. Instruction includes submersion under water, floating and gliding on front and back, unsupported flutter kicking on front and back, introduction to front, back crawl, and water safety.

Level 3 - Students will begin learning strokes and build upon the skills learned in Level II. Instruction includes jumping into deep water, introduction to diving, coordinating front and back crawl, introduction to elementary backstroke, treading water, and water safety.

Level 4 - Students will develop confidence in their strokes and improve skills already learned. Instruction includes improvement of front and back crawl and elementary backstroke, introduction to breaststroke and sidestroke, and water safety.

STROKE CLINIC - Pre-Competitive Swim Program will improve stroke technique, introduce competitive skills and allow individuals to progress in a friendly, non-competitive atmosphere. PARTICIPANTS MUST BE AT LEAST LEVEL 4 AND BE ABLE TO SWIM FREESTYLE AND BACKSTROKE

Swim Team: West Windsor Whalers - A competitive summer swim team for ages 6-18. Emphasis is on the development and refinement of skill and technique. Must be able to swim freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke. The team participates in the Princeton Area Swimming and Diving League (PASDA). (Participants MUST compete in Swim Meets and Parent Involvement is required.)

Dive Team: West Windsor Whalers - A competitive dive team for ages 6-18. Must be able to swim one lap comfortably, No previous experience necessary; just the willingness to learn. The team participates in PASDA. (Participants MUST compete in Dive Meets and Parent Involvement is required.)

Welcome to the 2019 season for the West Windsor Whalers Swim/Dive Team. We look forward to an exciting swim/dive season (June 5th-July 19th). Whalers’ team membership is open to individuals’ ages 6 to 18 years of age. This program, held during June and July, offers a competitive experience for swimmers and divers, emphasizing development and refinement of skill and technique. The team participates in the Princeton Area Swimming & Diving League (PASDA) and practices are held at the WaterWorks Aquatic Complex, West Windsor Community Park, 193 Princeton Hightstown Road & Bernt Midland Blvd., West Windsor.

Registration for the 2019 summer swim/dive season will begin on March 4, 2019. A late registration fee of $25.00 per swimmer/diver will be assessed beginning May 10th. Proof of age may be required.

Parent involvement at team functions is required. Dive/Swim Team members must participate in at least 3 meets.

LIMITED SPACE IS AVAILABLE IN EACH AGE GROUP TEAM ROSTER WILL BE AT COACHES DISCRETION

SWIMMING TEAM PRACTICE TIMES:

Swim Team members must be able to swim two lengths of the pool in two competitive strokes (must be able to extend arms over water during freestyle and perform basic breathing). For those with limited or no competitive experience, Stroke Clinic is a recommended alternative.

JUNE 5th – JUNE 21st (AFTER SCHOOL)
Daily Practice: Monday-Friday @ WaterWorks
Ages 10 & under: 5:00 pm – 5:45 pm // Ages 11 & over – 5:45 pm – 6:30 pm

JUNE 24th – JULY 19th (MORNINGS)
Daily Practice: Monday-Friday @ WaterWorks
Ages 10 & under: 8:00 am–8:45 am // Ages 11 & over–7:00 am – 8:00 am

Competitive swim wear is mandatory for practice and meets. Participants may purchase Whalers’ apparel; however, team merchandise is optional. Bathing suits and caps can be purchased at the beginning of the season.
